LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans

‘Twilight’ Screenwriter Wants Channing Tatum : Channing Tatum has proven he’s good at playing the bad boy - case in point: “Step Up,” “Stop-Loss” & “Fighting” - but can he play a vampire bad boy? “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg sure thinks so! “There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” “Twilight” and “New Moon” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the “Eclipse” script, told E! Online this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation. “And there are some complexities to that character… He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.” We’re losing track of the “Twilight” hottie count!

Did Madge Get Jesus A Gig?: Now that Madonna is recovering after her equestrian accident, the pop star reportedly has model Jesus Luz tending to her needs - at least when he’s not busy on the catwalk. According to a New York Post Page Six source, designer Marc Jacobs , “wrote a letter of support for Jesus’ work permit” allowing him to stay in the country. “All these fashion lines are hiring Jesus as a favor to Madonna . As long as he can legally work in the U.S., they can be together,” the source claimed. Madonna ’s rep told the paper, that the pop star is “not at all involved in managing the career of Jesus Luz. His Dolce job was arranged through his agents.” And Marc Jacobs ‘ rep had no comment about the report. Regardless of how Jesus got his current gig, we’re sure that having him around will aid in Madge’s speedy recovery!

Kate Gets Catcalled!: Speaking of May-December moments, Page Six spotted Kate Winslet recently getting hit on by two high school guys while walking down Sixth Avenue at 26th Street in New York. The source claimed, “two high-school guys, who had no idea who she was, were totally hitting on her. They followed her to Seventh Avenue and kept commenting on her big, hot booty and how sexy she was.” The source said the poised Oscar winner “completely ignored them.” Good for you Kate!

John Mayer Now Gets One Less Magazine In Mailbox: We’re not sure John Mayer has actually canceled his subscription to Rolling Stone (or if he even ever had one), but judging from some recent Twitter updates, the singer is not a fan of the music mag. “I just read a review in Rolling Stone of a ’single’ I haven’t even finished recording yet. That’s a new one for me,” he Tweeted. “Rolling Stone’s August 12, 2009 issue is a real piece of s**t.” I guess we know who won’t make the cover anytime soon!

But it wasn’t just coffee for these two cuties. Taylor and Selena also reportedly enjoyed dinner together at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

The dined without any interruptions, except for a group of Twi-hard girls “who were really excited” to spot the “New Moon” star, but apparently too shy to approach the dining duo, the source said.

And in more “New Moon” news, according to E!, Summit is about to release photos of Taylor which are said to similar to the shot of the shirtless wolf pack that delighted fans last week.

Kristen Stewart says ‘New Moon’ more ‘tragic’ than ‘Twilight’

“Adventureland” star Kristen Stewart dishes to The Dish Rag about how “New Moon” is different from “Twilight.”

“It’s a different movie, a lot happens,” says Stewart of the film in which her character, Bella, suffers the greatest loss of her teenage life: her intense vampire lover, Edward Cullen.

“She loses him, which is certainly a crazy concept for me to accept because that’s the basis for the entire first movie.”

“She grows up, quite a bit. She’s forced to, and she’s got strength and inner determination. A lot of people in her situation would be like, OK, done.”

Including all of Robert Pattinson’s fans!

Stewart says that “New Moon” is more tragic than “Twilight,” not as “sunshine and roses.”

Perhaps we should make that moonlight and roses. Sunshine makes Edward go all sparkly.

Is it easier — or harder — to do the second film, as opposed to the first?

“The beginning is different. Preproduction is different,” Stewart says, thoughtfully. “I’m not trying to make something; it’s already there, just going back into it. Different. It’s just a continuation.”

And we definitely can’t wait for “New Moon” to continue.

MICHAEL SHEEN AS ARO IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE

He has immortalised Tony Blair, David Frost and, most recently, legendary football manager Brian Clough on the big screen.
Now actor Michael Sheen is set to return to the realm of the firmly fictional after agreeing to play a vampire in the sequel to the blockbuster film Twilight.
Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Damned United, will get his biggest pay cheque yet, a reported £5million, to star in New Moon.

But he will be hoping the movie brings him better luck than his first foray into the vampire genre, the 2003 movie Underworld, starring Kate Beckinsale, with whom he has a daughter.

They split up during the making of the movie and the actress began a relationship with its director, Len Wiseman.

In New Moon, Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.
Director Chris Weitz confirmed Sheen’s casting to The Mail on Sunday and said he had ‘aggressively’ pursued the actor.

‘Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,’ he said. ‘Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.’

A BRITISH ACTOR AS CAIUS OF VOLTURI

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower has revealed he will play Volturi leader Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The 20-year-old, who has appeared in RockNRolla and Sweeney Todd, told the BBC news website that taking part in the vampire series was “very exciting”.

“You’re the first people I’ve told” he said. “Shooting has already started, and I’m going over in June.”

The film, due for release in November, is the second adaptation from author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series.

The role of Caius is key to the plot of New Moon. He forms part of the triumvirate leading the Italian based coven of vampires called the Volturi.

The second book in the series sees the gang become a threat to lovers Bella and Edward.

Rumours ‘false’

Campbell-Bower confessed he was not previously aware of the character: “I hadn’t read the books before. But it’s a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year.”

Film-maker Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass) has taken over directing duties from Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke for the second film.

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will repeat their roles
Casting news for New Moon has been revealed gradually, with 15-year-old Dakota Fanning now confirmed to take the part of Jane, a member of the Volturi gang with psychic abilities.

Five American Indian actors will make their film acting debuts as members of a wolf pack which features heavily in New Moon.

Casting for other roles is being hotly debated on fan websites.

Campbell-Bower teased: “I do know who else will be in it - but I can’t tell you, unfortunately.

“But go online and have a look at the rumours,” he said, then added: “They’re all false. You’re putting me in a terrible situation.”

‘Adulation’

The up-and-coming star will be acting alongside fellow Brit Robert Pattinson, who returns as the hero, teenage vampire Edward Cullen. Kristen Stewart reprises her role as Edward’s human girlfriend, Bella Swan.

The quartet of books by Stephenie Meyer is a best-seller worldwide.

The first film adaptation, Twilight, topped the US box office, making more money than industry insiders had predicted.

Global receipts for the film currently stand at $376m (£265m).

Hundreds of fans turned out for the London premiere in Leicester Square last year, while Pattinson has become a heartthrob overnight.

Campbell-Bower said: “I doubt I’ll get the same sort of adulation as Robert - but it’s always nice when people recognise you for your work.”

The actor also plays alongside Sir Ian McKellan and Jim Caviezel in the remake of cult series The Prisoner which is due to screen on American television this year.
