Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had an unexpected guest at their private dinner near Cannes, France, Tuesday night.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson arrived at the Michaelangelo restaurant in Antibes just as the star couple were saying their goodbyes at the Inglourious Basterds fete.

“He arrived as Brad and Angelina were leaving,” a restaurant source tells Usmagazine.com. “But they spoke in the hallway. It didn’t seem like they knew each other that well, but the conversation was friendly. Brad shouted back to Rob, ‘Go inside and get something to eat.’ They all seemed happy.”

Pitt and Jolie dined with the cast and crew of his new film the night before the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Basterds. The two stars left their hotel, Hotel du Cap, and arrived at the restaurant at 11 p.m., along with director Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Weinstein and costar Diane Kruger — who was joined by boyfriend Joshua Jackson.

“It was really lively and friendly,” the source tells Us, adding that the group dined on focaccia bread, prosciutto, truffle ravioli and rigatonni with sausage. “Everybody was relaxed and being themselves. Quentin Tarantino was the center of attention, telling stories and making everyone laugh.”

When Pattinson — who walked the red carpet at Wednesday’s premiere of Basterds — arrived at the restaurant, the chefs rushed to serve food to him and his group of four people, including Emile Hirsch and Brianna Domont.

“There wasn’t much left, but they were all given something to eat,” the source tells Us. “Just simple food.”

Before leaving, the actor — who just celebrated his 23rd birthday this week — took photos with the restaurant’s owner, Mamo.

“He was nice,” adds the source. “Very friendly.”

Pattinson has "Breaking" news for "Twilight" fans

CANNES, France (Hollywood Reporter) - Robert Pattinson, who shot to stardom in “Twilight” and is now filming the second and third movies in the franchise, confirmed Tuesday at the Cannes festival that there will be a fourth installment of the vampire franchise, based on the book “Breaking Dawn.”

Pattinson told The Hollywood Reporter that he is committed to starring in the fourth outing but doesn’t know when studio Summit Entertainment will begin production because of the actor’s jam-packed shooting schedule.

Fans have been hoping for a movie version of the fourth novel from Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series, and Pattinson’s commitment is the biggest fillip yet. The fourth book — caution: spoiler alert — centers on Bella and Edward’s marriage and her subsequent pregnancy.

Dropping in at the Cannes festival on his way to the final four days of shooting in Italy for “New Moon,” the second “Twilight” film, Pattinson said he will return to Vancouver in October to finish up “Eclipse,” the third installment. In between, the British actor, who turned 23 last week, plans to star in the romantic drama “Remember Me,” which Summit also is producing.

The script adaptation for “New Moon” beefs up his character’s role considerably — in the book, Edward is a “a voice in Bella’s head,” he said.

Said Pattinson, laughing: “You’re playing a figment in Bella’s imagination, so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn’t translate onscreen as being boring.”

CANNES, France — While in Cannes on Tuesday, Robert Pattinson confirmed that there will be a fourth “Twilight” film based on the Stephenie Meyer novel, “Breaking Dawn,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Robert, who turned 23 last week, will be shooting his final days of “New Moon” in Italy on Friday.

The screen adaptation of “New Moon” will also extend Robert’s role. His character, Edward Cullen, was absent for most of the novel and only appeared as a voice in Bella Swan’s head.

“You’re playing a figment in Bella’s imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn’t translate onscreen as being boring,” Robert said.

The vampire franchise has catapulted Robert’s career - and it isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Robert will take a few days off after finishing “New Moon” before starting the filming of “Remember Me,” a drama about two lovers.

Woman finds ‘Twilight’ sequel script in trash

ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis beauty salon owner accidentally happened upon one of the hottest Hollywood scripts — the pages from an upcoming “Twilight” sequel — in a trash bin.

Casey Ray found two scripts, one for the vampire sequel “New Moon,” and one for a different movie titled “Memoirs.” She decided to return them to the studio making the films. In return, she was invited to attend the movies’ premieres, her lawyer said.

Ray recently was waiting for her fiance to finish work when she spotted two scripts in a trash container. She was outside a hotel where actors were staying during a St. Louis shoot for the upcoming George Clooney movie, “Up in the Air.”

It’s not clear how the scripts wound up in the bin.

The Clooney movie includes actress Anna Kendrick, who is also in the “Twilight” vampire movie. A spokeswoman for Kendrick, Lisa Perkins, said the actress wouldn’t have left scripts lying around.

When Ray found the scripts, she considered leaking them to a national tabloid but decided against it, said her lawyer, Al Watkins.

“My client didn’t really want to get paid,” he said, but she was interested in hanging onto the scripts as collector’s items.

Watkins helped her return them to Los Angeles-based Summit Entertainment LLC, the studio making the movies. He said the studio invited Ray to premieres for the two films, and will certify the scripts as authentic after the movies are released.

“Summit doesn’t comment on any of the deals it does,” Summit spokesman Paul Pflug said. But he added, “We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing.”

The “Twilight” movies are based on the novels of Stephenie Meyer, so many of the plot turns are well known to readers. But keeping the “New Moon” script written by Melissa Rosenberg out of the public eye preserves which elements of the book will be included in the films, Pflug noted.

Last year’s original “Twilight” film grossed over $350 million worldwide.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her actress partner Portia de Rossi topped a poll that asked American moms which celebrities they would feel most comfortable leaving their kids with.

DeGeneres and de Rossi, who married in August when same-sex marriages in California were briefly legalized but who have no children, beat Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt with their eclectic brood of six in the ParentDish.com poll of more than 10,000 moms.

The TV chat show host and de Rossi took 31 percent of votes with singleton Jennifer Aniston coming in second at 22 percent. Jolie and Pitt got 18 percent of votes, while chat show queen Oprah Winfrey got just nine percent.

Jolie also won few fans as a mom, coming bottom in a list of five best celebrity mothers. Former “Alias” star and mom of two Jennifer Garner won that round with 37 percent of votes, followed by first lady Michelle Obama and Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon in a virtual tie.

In a close battle for worst celebrity mom, rock singer Courtney Love edged out Dina Lohan — mother of Lindsay Lohan — and pop star Britney Spears.

The poll, conducted to mark Mother’s Day in the United States on Sunday, was carried out on AOL’s parenting site ParentDish.com between April 23-May 5.

As for their top Mother’s Day gift, those questioned chose “time with my family” by an overwhelming 63 percent over chocolates and flowers.

MICHAEL COPON ON NEW MOON AND REPLACING TAYLOR LAUTNER

During the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past premiere on April 27th, I got a chance to talk to Michael Copon on the red carpet. You may remember him — he’s the guy who was rumored to replace Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black in the Twilight sequel New Moon.

I asked him if that was real or rumor, and he told me it was 100% true. It was a tense back-and-forth during casting, but we all know who got the role in the end. Copon told me he really, really wanted to get the role, but that he is happy for Lautner: “There are no hard feelings between Taylor and me — we are friends.”

He also said that he and Lautner have the same talent agent, which according to IMDb is Thor Bradwell from William Morris agency. While it was a win-win for Thor, Copon — now bitten buy the Twilight bug — will have to see New Moon in theaters like the rest of us mortals.

I trust there is quite a future for Copon though. Standing on the red carpet with Copon, who was promoting his next movie, Night of the Demons, I realized he is statuesque and very good looking. It’s no wonder he was considered for the Jacob Black role.
